Celebrating triumphs and representation this week

blog Jul 21, 2023

We've had some big wins this week so we're celebrating these amazing champions and all the challenges they are conquering.

Wimbledon's Wheelchair Winners

This year's Wimbledon wheelchair winners have left us in awe with their outstanding skills and unwavering spirit. 🎾

It's time to give these remarkable athletes a round of applause and celebration for proving that disability is never a barrier to greatness! 💪

See, wins and achievements by people with disabilities often receive little attention in mainstream media. So I say, it's time to change that!

It's time to shine a light on their triumphs and contributions, both here on the sports field, as well as in every aspect of life.

Representation matters, and seeing individuals with disabilities excel in their fields is a source of inspiration for us all.

From sports to arts, academia, and beyond, their presence makes our world richer, more diverse, and infinitely more compassionate.

Singing superstar

Have you heard of Lavender Darcangelo?

Lavender is a true songbird who recently stole hearts on America's Got Talent! 🎤

At just 27 years old, Lavender, who is blind and autistic, captivated the judges with her rendition of Irene Cara's "Out Here on My Own," earning the coveted golden buzzer, and her dream came true.

It was an empowering moment that left everyone in awe and brought tears and warmth in many. 💛

See, in a world where mainstream media often overlooks the achievements of individuals with disabilities, it's essential to shine a spotlight on such incredible wins.

Lavender's remarkable performance not only showcased her extraordinary talent in singing but also shattered barriers and brought visibility to the talent and potential that has always existed within the autistic community.

Her win serves as a reminder that individuals with learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, and other disabilities have immense potential in every field.

It reminds us that they can thrive and that they can live empowered and fulfilled lives!

So, let's raise our voices and celebrate Lavender's incredible accomplishment! 🎉
